The Polar Plunge: I Did It!

The car thermometer read 33 degrees when I left for the Perry County Polar Plunge this morning. I’ve done many things that others have called brave, but I’m not sure I felt as much trepidation about any of them as I did about this winter dip in the Susquehanna River.

The plunge benefited juvenile diabetes research.

The first step.

The first step.

Going all in.

Survived.

Somehow I'm smiling afterwards.

The first on my list of 2013 challenges is completed. I hope your year is off to a successful start, too!

Yes, I believe I will! This year I didn’t realize I’d have to wear my shoes and didn’t bring an extra pair of those or socks. Thus, I didn’t enjoy the adrenaline rush as much as I could’ve afterwards because my toes were frozen. Next year, I’ll be better prepared in the foot department.

And next year I’ll be expecting you to join me :-P
