Chained to a Bulldozer*: Al-Walaja Protest

Today Israeli authorities arrested one Palestinian and two Israelis who were among 25 peaceful demonstrators blocking bulldozers from destroying the property of an Al Walaja resident. The Israeli army and their contracted employees yesterday began uprooting Abu Nidal’s trees to make room for the continuation of the illegal apartheid wall around this village.

Hopefully I will write and reflect on this event and topic once I’ve caught up on sleep but for now, here’s an article with details written by a colleague and photos by yours truly.

Former US Professor Arrested in Al-Walaja

*Note to readers and lesson to journalists: After doing my homework, I have discovered that the technical name for the equipment to which activists chained themselves is an excavator, although the demonstrators referred to it as a bulldozer.
